I gotta tell you guys I feel that these Roadhouse Shortys with this competition (performance) baffle on a VTX is truly a perfectly, heavenly union of engine and exhaust. I was without a doubt, giddy when I first opened her up. I have heard the V&H pipes before and in my opinion, simply do not compare to HUGE sound that these pipes produce. A very nice beastly purr when idle, nail it and everyone looks or wonders why their windows are shaking.
I made the recordings with a a Sony Minidisc unit on the high quality setting, low compression. The microphones I used were a standard dynamic vocal mic and a condenser type Sony ECM-MS907 stereo mic. I wanted to use my mid-range studio mic but I didn't have a mobile phantom power supply so I didn't use it. I believe that the Sony condenser had a more accurate reproduction of the sound although the dynamic at 20 feet sounded pretty good. Nothing can really compare to actually hearing and feeling these pipes live.
